The School of Journalism and Mass Communication was established in 1986 under the aegis of the University Grant Commission. Though the course being offered initially was a part-time course, it has now been updated to a full time Bachelors Course in Journalism and Mass Communication.
The School's infrastructure includes a teleprinter system, extensive library with newspapers, magazines and books; photography laboratory for developing, printing, enlarging and cropping photographs. In addition to a class room teaching participation of students in seminars and workshops is extensive. Interaction with media personnel is a part of this effort.
The School Aims to prepare students for the demands of a career in areas of Mass Communication.
