Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the Degree of Bachelor of Tamil, shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu with Tamil as one the subject. A candidate who has passed Higher Secondary Examination in biological science or Physical science under Higher Secondary Board of Examination, Tamilnadu or as per norms set by the Government of Tamilnadu or an Examination accepted as equivalent therto by the syndicate subject to such conditions as may be prescribed thereto are permitted to appear and qualify for the B.Sc., Biochemistry degree examination of Periyar university after a course of study of three academic years.

Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the Master of Commerce degree course shall possess: (a) B.Com / B.Com (CA) or (b) Any other degree with one paper in Accountancy. 2 academic years consisting of four semesters.

For Full Time : Candidates who have qualified for post graduate degree of Periyar University or any other University recognized by the syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to register for the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.,) in their respective subject and undergo the prescribed course of study in an approved institution or department of Periyar University.
For Part Time : (i) Teacher candidates working in the University Departments; (ii) Teacher candidates working in the affiliated colleges and whose qualifications are approved by the University; (iii) Teacher candidates working in Polytechnics approved by the Director of Technical Education or in Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools approved by State Board or Central Board of Secondary Education or Educational Institutions of IAF (within Periyar Uuiversity area) who possess a Master's Degree. 

FT - The duration of the M.Phill course shall extend over a period of one year from the commencement of the course.
PT - The course of study shall extend over a period of two years from the commencement of the course.

A candidate who has passed a Bachelor degree in Science with Micobiology / Botany / Zoology / Environmental Science / Biotechnologyy / Biochemistry / Chemistry / Home Secience / Nutrition and Dietetics / B.Sc., MLT / Genetics / Bio-informatics / Marine Biology or a bachelor degree in Agriculture / Animal Science / Medicine or Veterinary Science / Pharmacy and including Indian Forms of Medicines and Homeopathy degree of this University or any of the above degree of any other University accepted by syndicates as equivalent thereto, subjects to such conditions as may prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc., Applied Microbiology degree examination of Periyar University after a course of study of two academic years.

The course for the degree of Master of Applied Microbiology shall consist of two academic years divided into four semesters. Each semester consist of 90 working days.

A Bachelor's degree in Science with Biochemistry, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Nutrition and Dietetics or Food and Nutrition or Food Sciences as the main subject or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Medicine or Veterinary Sciences including Indian forms of Medicine and Homeopathy of this University or any other qualification accepted as equivalent thereto are eligible for admission to M.Sc., Biochemistry degree course.

The course duration shall be two years consisting of four semesters. Each academic year shall be divided into two semesters.

A Bachelors degree in science with Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, BVSC, BDS, MBBS, B.Sc., Agriculture, Zoology and Life Science as a main subject of this university or any other qualification accepted as equivalent therto are eligible for admission to M.Sc., Bioinformatics degree course. The pattern of instructions and education in the university will be 'REGULAR'.

The course duration shall be two years consisting of four semesters. Each academic year shall be divided into two semesters.

A candidate who has passed a Bachelor degree in Science with Biotechnology / Botany / Zoology / B Biology / Microbiology / Microbial Gene Technology / Bioinstrumentation / Bioinformatics / Biochemistry / Chemistry / Agriculture / Marine Biology / Home Science / Farm Science / Nutrition and Dietetics / Integrated Biology / Plant Science / Animal Science / Fisheries Science / Aquaculture / Mathematics with Physics, Chemistry as Ancillary / Medical Lab Technology / MBBS / BDS / B.Pharm / BSMS / BHMS of this University or any of the above degree of any other University accepted by syndicates as equivalent thereto, subjects to such conditions as may prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc., Biotechnology degree examination of Periyar University after a course of study of two academic years.

The course for the degree of Master of Biotechnology shall consist of two academic years divided into four semesters. Each semester consist of 90 working days.

A candidate who has passed B.Sc., Computer Science / BCA / B.Sc., Computer Technology / B.Sc., Information Science degree of Periyar University or any of the degree of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent thereto subject to such conditions as may be prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc., Computer Science degree examination of Periyar University after a course of study of two academic years. The course for the degree of M.Sc., Computer Science shall consist of two academic years divided into four semesters. Each semester consist of 90 working days

The course for the degree of Master of Computer Applications shall consist of three academic years divided into six semesters. Each semester consist of 90 working days.
