BARC Training school, NFC, Hyderabad formerly known as (NFC-HWB Training School) is an extension of the prestigious BARC Training school, Mumbai which has been playing a vital role in providing trained engineers and scientists required by the various units of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).The training school with the first batch of Trainee Scientific Officers, was inaugurated on 3.9.2001 by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, AEC and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India .

Admission to this school is through a process of preliminary screening based on GATE score and/or All India Entrance Test, followed by a final oral interview which is conducted at BARC.

One year intensive in house training in Nuclear Science, Engineering and also I&M activities by specialists in the related fields in 'GURUKUL' at NFC, Hyderabad.Only those candidates who are selected through interview, can join the school as Trainee Scientific Officer to undergo a rigorous one year orientation course at TS. The orientation course comprises of class room lectures, practicals and project work. The syllabi /curricula have been devised in four modules namely Nuclear Engg. Module, Core, Engg. Module, Core Electives Module and Project work with adequate educational visits to various plants/sites of the Dept. in order to give a systematic exposure.
