Sankar Institute of Polytechnic College was established in July 1958 by Sri S.N.N. Sankaralinga Iyer, a well-known Philanthropist, missionary and Industrialist and Shri TS Narayanaswamy, Industrialist and former Sheriff of Madras, who were the founders of The India Cements Ltd.. The then Chief minister of Madras, Shri K.Kamaraj, inaugurated the Polytechnic lighting the kuthuvilakku. The Polytechnic strives to offer best quality technical education to students and producing skilled technical manpower meeting international standards and global requirements.
The polytechnic is managed by the India Cements Educational Trust, Chennai. It is a State-Government-Aided institution since inception. It is a co-educational institution. The medium of instruction is English.
Hostel Facility
Separate well-maintained hostel facilities are available for both boys and Girls.
Students are selected for jobs in on-campus/ off-campus interviews by reputed industries.
