Sri S.Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, Sattur, is unique in that it was started and is run by and mainly for rural people domiciled in the districts of Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar. It is run by the Managing Committee of Sri S.Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, which is a society registered under the societies registration act, Act XXI of 1860. [Registration No. 33 of 1970, Tuticorin]. The society has 1455 life members drawn from 114 villages in the districts named above. The administration of the college is carried on by the College Management Committee.
Sri S.Ramasamy Naidu, Known familiarly as "S.R" was a dedicated educationist and freedom will be of no value unless there is freedom from illiteracy led him to work tirelessly for the great cause. Thanks to his keen interest and initiative, the area is today blessed with a number of educational institution. The grateful people of the region founded a College to perpetuate his memory by realizing his visionary ambitions. This College was established at Nagalapuram in 1970 with Thiru V.Venugopala Krishnasamy Naidu as its founder President with the mission of ameliorating the living condition of the rural poor through education and employment. In 1972, the College was shifted to Sattur. The Institution flourished into a first grade College with the affiliation of B.A. ( Branch -I History). The need for a more spacious accommodation was badly felt. A forty eight acre site was purchased and it became possible for the College to have a new and magnificent building thanks to the generosity of its numerous benefactors

Hostel Facility
Men's hostel has a capacity to accommodate 240 students. At present there are only 120 resident students in the hostel. About 360 girls are accommodated in the Women's Hostel with 50 rooms. A new Women's Hostel with 50 rooms is under construction at a cost of Rs. 1.38 crores. It is funded by the UGC under Xth plan grants.
The Placement and Training Cell is headed by the fulltime placement & Training Officer Prof.K.G.S.Ramanan. The cell takes efforts to bring the reputed companies for campus recruitment and preparing the students to meet the standard required by the Industries
