The D.Y.Patil Medical College was established in 1989 on a sprawling campus admeasuring 5.5 acres of land is recognized by Medical Council of India for undergraduate and post graduate programmes. The name of the college is already included in WHO directory. During its formative years the college was affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur and from June 1998 it came to be affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. Now the College has become a Constituent College of the D.Y. Patil Education Society deemed University, Kolhapur.

Library- The Library has four reading rooms with sitting capacity of 200 throughout day and night. Library services are available to the students from 8.00 am to 9.00 pm.
Hostel Facility
The Medical College provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls accommodate 310 boys and 190 girls. Both the hostels are provided with excellent boarding facilities.
Each room is provided with bed, table, chair, ceiling fan and cupboard. They are airy and with round the clock security, hot water and the safe drinking water are also provided in the hostel.
