The D.A.V. College of Education, Hoshiarpur, formerly known as D.A.V. Training College, came into existence in August, 1966 due to the most untiring efforts of Late Ch. Balbir Singh Ji (Ex. M.P.), revered father of our beloved leader Sh. Kamal Chaudhry, President, D.A.V. College Managing Committee, Hoshiarpur, who has served 4 terms as M.P. (Lok Sabha). This College is a living monument of the socialistic philosophy of Ch. Balbir Singh Ji who lived and ultimately laid down his life for the masses. The College is spread in an area of 3.5 acres set amidst the lush green surroundings. The campus provides an ambience that stimulates intellectual thinking and academic interface. The college is housed in a building adjoining the D.A.V. Sr. Sec. School on Arya Samaj Road, Near Shimla Pahari Chowk, Hoshiarpur.
The college has a large number of spacious and airy class rooms, along with very well equipped library with a large number of Reference Books, Encyclopedias on Educational Research and books on general subjects. The library is updated each year to keep pace with the changing times, syllabi and courses. The college boasts of a hi-tech Micro Teaching Lab which is the only one of its kind in the Region. It is a fully air conditioned lab, equipped with latest hi-tech equipments and gadgets like Multi Media Computers, Computer Compatible Projector, Laser Printer, Dot Matrix Printer, Inkjet Printer, Overhead Projector, Video Camera, View Cams and latest software and ultra modern supporting equipments. The college psychology & guidance labs are very well equipped for meeting requirements of M.Ed. as well as B.Ed. students for practical work in Advanced Educational Lab Psychology, Guidance & Counselling. The college has very extensive play grounds where facilities for Football, Hockey, Volley Ball & Athletics are available. Our students have excelled not only in academics over the years but also have won positions in Panjab University Sports Meet for Professional Colleges. The college has a very well equipped computer department with the latest machines & gadgets and competent members of the teaching faculty.
