National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has been set up by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power, to function as the National Apex Body for Human Resources Development of Indian Power Sector. NPTI (Eastern Region), Durgapur is one of the nine Regional Institutes of NPTI established in 1968.NPTI (Eastern Region) Durgapur plays an important role in the field of HRD in the Power Sector as a leading Institute in the Eastern Region and till March 2010 has trained about 30000 Power Sector personnel in technical and managerial skill development programs including various professional and academic courses.
Library:It has a huge collection of books on engineering, science and technology, which collectively support teaching and learning programs at the institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the institute are entitled to make use of the library facilities on taking library membership. NPTI(ER) Library subscribes to a number of Indian and foreign technical journals and periodicals.
Laboratories: The laboratories and Workshops are the prerequisites for providing off-job, hands-on training in the maintenance aspects. The NPTI (ER) has built well equipped laboratories and workshops with wide ranging facilities for imparting training to Technicians, Operators and Engineers, in various aspects of Power Stations.
Hostel Facility
Hostels are available at NPTI to accommodate about 400 trainees.Recreation and indoor sports facilities like Table Tennis, Badminton, Carom, Chess etc. are available for trainees in Hostel, creating a congenial atmosphere of a Home away from Home. The hostel accommodation is provided to the trainees only for the period of training course.
Placement cell plays a vital role in institute to organize the campus recruitment programs for PGDC Trainees, PDC Trainees & B.Tech Students. The Placement Cell provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews besides catering to other logistics.
