Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies was inaugurated on 2nd August, 1993 by Sri B V Acharya, the then Advocate General, Government of Karnataka. Dr. V.B. Coutinho, the then Dean and Principal of University Law College, Bangalore presided over the function. The college was started in a very humble manner comprising of a modest library, with a few students. Little did the college realize that the college would scale such heights. Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies has been obtained approval by the Government of Karnataka, affiliation to Bangalore University and is also recognized by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies has been striving towards improving standards of Legal Education in the country. In the process, the college continues to conduct Moot Court Competitions at the national level, organize legal aid programmes for the common man, legal awareness camps and client counseling. The college also arranges for visits to Lok Adalats, the Hon'ble High Court, the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the Parliament.
