Doongarsee Gangjee Ruparel College of Arts, Science and Commerce was established by the Modern Education Society, Pune in 1952. The College owes owes its pre-eminence in the sphere of education to Seth Gordhandas Jadavji Ruparel and his younger brother Seth Narayandas Jadavji Ruparel of Messrs Doongarsee Gangjee and Sons, Mumbai. In grateful appreciation of their generous and profound interest in our institution, it was named ‘The Doongarsee Gangjee Ruparel College’. In 2010, our College was re-accredited with the prestigious ‘A’ Grade by the NAAC. In the past two years, three of our teachers have won the Best Teacher Award conferred by the Government of Maharashtra. In 2007-2008, the College won the Best College Award from the University of Mumbai.
The Placement Cell was started by the College in the academic year 2006 – 2007 with a view to expose students of different faculties to job opportunities. Dr. Vikas Golatkar, Head, Department of Botany is the Co-ordinator of the Cell. Many reputed companies have conducted campus interviews or have invited our students for placement interviews. Our students have secured lucrative positions in well-known companies like Tech Mahindra, Patni Computers, Packt Publishing, J.P. Morgan, Wipro Technologies, Wipro BPO, HDFC Standard Life.
