Government Polytechnic, Mandi Adampur ( Hisar ) was established under the name of The Govt. Institute of Management & Pharmacy in the year 1985 with one diploma course i.e. Industrial & Personnel Management with an intake of 30 students in one wing of F.G.M. Post Graduate Govt. College, Adampur. Diploma in Pharmacy was introduced in the year of 1987. The institute shifted to its newly constructed building, adjacent to F.G.M. Govt. College on Bhadra road in November, 1991 and its name was changed to Govt. Polytechnic in the year 1996. Diploma in Computer Engg. and Electronics were started in the year 1994, where as Diploma in Food Processing / Technology was introduced in the year 1995.
The institution is spread over an area of 18 acres consisting of administrative and teaching blocks, multi-purpose hall, three hostels and 22 staff residence, Under World Bank Project, adequate infrastructure has been created in terms of building, machinery, equipment, books, furniture, etc.
