Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (HIT-K), established by KBT in 2001, while following the norms and syllabi of the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), its affiliating university, ensures that students become self-motivated and employable.The Heritage campus, inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India,is located on a prime land at Anandapur behind Ruby General Hospital and halfway between the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and the Basanti Expressway. The campus is exquisitely landscaped with intertwined roads connecting various buildings inside the campus. It provides a tranquil surrounding with a backdrop of lush greenery, which offers an aesthetically pleasing and serene atmosphere, on one hand, and an intellectually stimulating environment, on the other.
A Central Computer Centre is exclusively available to the students for net surfing and online study. Besides, all post-graduate degree awarding departments have its own project laboratories for undertaking project, research and development works. All the computers are Wi-Fi connected with 20Mbps leased line for 24 hours. All students are provided with unique email id for having anytime access to institute related information. A Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT), installed by ISRO and WBUT, with video conferencing facilities is also available. A common room, equipped with major indoor games facilities like Table Tennis, Carom and Chess are available. There are excellent facilities for outdoor games and sports like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, golf and swiming managed by a Sports Officer and a Swiming Instructor.
Digital Library
Facilities at the library are being upgraded and expanded. Some of the current facilities include –Access to Internet,E-journals & E-books through on-line data bases namely (ASTM Digital Library ,EPW Online, IEEE- All Society Periodicals E Package( ASPP) ,J-Gate Engineering & Technology ( JET) ,J-Gate Social & Management Sciences(JSMS) , RMIT : Informit Business Collection & SAGE Online & DELNET) ,and web courses and video courses through NPTEL a joint initiative of IITs and IISc., Bangalore, funded by MHRD, Govt. of India,.
Library Facilities
The library is housed in a large air-conditioned hall of 6000 sq. ft. having a seating capacity for about 250 readers. The Library has a generous collection of more than 43,000 textbooks and reference books on all relevant subjects. The Institute subscribes to a large number of journals, periodicals, proceedings, magazines, local and national dailies which are available for the benefit of the readers. Facilities at the library are constantly upgraded and expanded. Some of the current facilities include - Reprographics, Internet, educational CD's, Book Bank facility etc. The Library is fully automated with LIBSYS and online public access(OPAC) facility
