DA-IICT is a University established under an Act of Gujarat State Legislature (Act No.6 of 2003). The University Grants Commission (UGC) of the Government of India has notified the inclusion of DA-IICT in the list of Universities under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The DA-IICT is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities as approved by the AIU in its 84th Annual Meeting held during 12-14 November 2009.The institute is a non-affiliating university and does not receive any aid or other financial assistance from the Central or State Government.
DA-IICT has a modern, eco-friendly, fully networked campus with optical fibre cable connectivity between buildings. It has state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, computing and communication resources, electronic access controls and a payment system through smart cards.
Laboratory:The laboratory building houses state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories for electronics, communications, computers and networks. More than eight hundred computers are installed in these laboratories. Students use resources of laboratories (open until midnight) to solve problems, perform developmental experiments and work on projects guided by faculty.
Medical Facility:The Institute has a Medical Centre. There are two doctors visiting the centre at specified hours and the students can consult them without any charge. DA-IICT has arrangements with the Apollo and SAL Hospitals which allows the students to be admitted on concessional rates without advanced deposit. All students are covered under the Group Mediclaim Insurance Policy and Personal Accident Insurance Policy. A cashless transaction facility has also been provided to the students under the Mediclaim scheme.
Hostel Facility
There are two Halls of Residence, one for Men and the other for Women. The Men's hall has 8 wings labelled A to H. Each wing has about 60 rooms. The total capacity of the 8 wings is about 900 students on twin sharing basis.
Scholarship Facility
Up to five deserving and meritorious candidates would be awarded merit scholarship equivalent to full tuition fees based on the All India Rank in JEE Main examination. In addition, five merit-cum-means scholarship would be offered to the students subject to a means test. The students are eligible for Teaching Assistantship on completion of their sixth semester studies. They are also eligible for Research Assistantships in sponsored research projects.
Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology provides placement for the students
