This college was founded in the year 1949 as "The Narsapur College" by SriYerramilli Narayanamurthy, an eminent Advocate and educationalist to cater the needs and to improve the facility of collegiate education in the Godavari Districts. The college in 1967 was named after its founder as "Sri Yerramilli Narayanamurthy College" popularly known as "Sri Y.N.College".
Library: This college has two state-of-the-art library buildings for Under Graduate(UG) and Post Graduate(PG) courses separately. The UG library is constructed in a plinth area of 4461 sq ft. it is equipped with an excellent collection of 50,000 books on Physics and Natural Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Literature and Linguistics. The P.G.Library, constructed in a plinth area of 6896 sq ft, has an excellent collection of more than 8,000 books on computers and. Electronics, Commerce and Management, Arts , Administration and Mathematics.
Sports: The college has facilities like Gymnasium , Ball Badminton , Tennis Court , Volley Ball Court , Basket Ball court, Multi - Gym , Play field for cricket and other Indoor game facilities.
