Govt. Auto. Arts & Commerce Mahakaushal College was established as Robertson College in 1836 this college. In 1947 its name was changed into Mahakoshal College.
Development:- In 1962 the college was bifurcated Govt. Mahakoshal Arts College and Govt. Science College. In 1983 Commerce stream was started and the name was again changed to Govt. Mahakoshal Arts & Commerce College.
Inception of Autonomy:- The college is affiliated to Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya under University Grants Commission. It was granted Autonomous status in 1992. According to 1998 guidelines autonomous scheme is effective here.
National Assessment and Accreditation Council, NAAC Banglore, awarded B Grade to the College in 2013

College has a well established Library with more than 10000 books. An Indoor Outdoor Stadium is under construction. An large auditorium has witnessed many cultural events of the college.

aid from the Government scholarship schemes. Gold medals and certificates are given to the meritorious students. The College also gives Best Student award to the student with overall outstanding perfo
rmance. The College has always been working for the poor students by giving them special
consideration during admissions and by providing scholarships and financial assistance and the Book Bank facility.
Swami Vivekanand Career Guidance Cell is very active in College. It provides training to students by organising various courses for job placement and enterpreneur development. Every year a district level career fare is organised by the cell.
