The Department of Guru Nanak Studies was set up in 1971.The Department of Guru Nanak Studies is an inter-disciplinary department with its main focus on Sikh Studies and Comparative Study of Religion. The Centre for Guru Nanak Studies was established in the department under the X Plan of U.G.C. Scheme on the ‘Epoch Making Social Thinkers of India’. Journal of Sikh Studies, a referred journal of international repute has been a regular feature of the department since 1974.
