Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) formerly known as Deccan Sugar Institute, is an autonomous body which is a ‘Registered Society’ registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. VSI has been set up to serve the Sugar Industry in India in general and in Maharashtra State in particular. Established by the sugarcane grower members of the co-operative sugar factories in Maharashtra State with an active and generous support of Government of Maharashtra State, perhaps it is the only organization of its kind in the World. Since 1986, VSI is recognized as the center for sugarcane varieties testing under All India Coordinated Research Project on Sugarcane (AICRP (S)).
Library: The Institutes Library is the most important information center for the timely fulfillment of the vital information for sugar and allied industry and having one of the world’s largest and most accessible scientific and technical information in relation to sugarcane cultivation and processing. The library is having total collection of 18,700 books.
Hostel Facility
The Institute have a well-furnished hostel having capacity to accommodate 250 Students. Facilities such as mess, recreation hall and sports are available in the hostel. Hostel accommodation is provided depending upon availibility.
