Department of Biotechnology has been established in 2001 with the aim to be “Center of Excellence” by providing quality education & skills to young biotechnocrats and contributing to the field of Biotechnology education. Biotechnology is the art of utilizing living organisms and their products for the production of food, drink, medicine or for other benefits to the human race, or other animal species. Technically speaking, humans have been making use of biotechnology since they discovered farming, with the planting of seeds to control plant growth and crop production. The faculty groups in the department are involved in different areas of research including Microbiology, Genetic disease analysis, Mutation analysis, Nanomaterials, Bioremediation and Bioplastic, Bioinformatics, Fermentation and Bioprocess Engineering Plant & Animal Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering. Department of Biotechnology at MIET, Meerut is the premier department and was the first to introduce B. Tech. Biotechnology in UP.
The department has excellent laboratory facilities for imparting experimental skill for students of biotechnology. All the laboratories are well equipped with state of the art facilities and to conduct all curriculum experiments.Well designed lab manuals are prepared and made available to students before and during the laboratory exercise.
Hostel Facility
Hostels for girls and boys are available in the campus. Boarders will be provided with bed, mattress, chair, table, almirah in the rooms. Hostels' rooms are fitted with the tube light fittings and fans.
