Department of Biotechnology started functioning in the year 1995. It is aimed at high academic standards in teaching and research. The department has basic infrastructure to nourish M.Sc. students and for pursuing research in diverse fields of biotechnology like microbial, plants and animal biotechnology with the help of collaborating institutes having specialized facilities. Teaching faculty includes One Professor, One Associate Professor, Two Readers and Three Assistant Professors.
Library: Departmental library has more than 500 textbooks and manuals on diverse aspects of Biotechnology.
Teaching Labs:
Two well equipped teaching laboratories for M. Sc. students are available in the Department.
Others facilities:Department has facilities for animal, microbial and plant biotechnology experimental work. Major equipments within the department are M.P.L.C., HPLC, gradient PCR thermal cycler, CO2 incubator, Protein Purification System, Gel documentation system, U.V./Visible spectrophotometers, Ultra Freezer, Incubator Shakers, Lyophilizer, Ultra sonicator, Chiller machine, Scotsman ice maker, refrigerated centrifuged, Millipore water purifier, Fermenter etc.
Department faculty members provide counseling to the students for procuring placement. The post - graduated students have joined research institutions and universities for teaching and research. Some students have also got placement in multinational companies involved in biotechnology–related businesses and services.
