The Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies was established by the University Grants Commission with a specific goal and calculated expectation that concrete and substantial research tools must be provided to the researchers who want to promote some high quality of research in Indology. Initially this Institute was established with the vision and leadership of late Prof. Dharmendra Nath Shastri and late Prof. Buddha Prakash in 1963.
The Institute is a research Institute, furnished with experienced and competent faculty, an exclusive reference library and other necessary infrastructure needed for higher research in any discipline of Indology, i.e. Comparative Study of Ancient Indian Literature, Languages, S c r i p t s, Philosophy, Religion, Culture, Civilization and History including Jainism & Buddhism with special thrust on the Mahâbhârata and Shrimadbhagavad- Gita.
