The mission of the department of Information Technology at SRM University is to provide quality and value-laden education for students, in the traditional and contemporary areas of information technology and develop students with good ethical practices, thus showcasing their all-round personality development.
The computing facilities and the classroom environment in the IT Department is an ergo-assistive work-study environment open to students, faculty and researchers. It has state of the art computing facilities to enable the students, faculty and researchers to achieve their task with ease of operation in their area of interest. The department has to its credit 12 laboratories (Open Source Technologies, Digital Forensics, Networking, Multimedia, Database, Visual Programming, Embedded Systems lab, CISCO Network Academy etc), and a total of over 350 systems.The department has recently setup a private cloud infrastructure and 60% of the labs are virtualized, to have flexibility and efficient utilization of available systems. A state of the art, “Data Analytics lab” was setup in collaboration with EMC2 to carry out projects and research on Big Data.
