Indira Gandhi Government College is the 3rd oldest and a prestigious institute of higher education in Arunachal Pradesh. It was established by the government of Arunachal Pradesh in the year of 1986 at Tezu (HQ) in Lohit district. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University (Rono Hills, Doimukh, Itanagar). The College is accredited with B+ Grade by NAAC and is recognized by UGC (University Grants Commission) under 2(f), 12(b) of UGC Act, 1956 from 25th July 1995 onwards. It also provides the facilities for non-formal education through the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Distance Education Centre under the Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar.
It is spread over area of 210 acres of land. The College has 17 class rooms, 1 lab. and rooms to accommodate all the Cells and Committees, Library, UGC-NRC, C-DAC and a Boys’ Common Room. The College Library has a collection of almost 15,000 books. The Book Bank facility is made available to all the students.
Hostel Facility
The College has 2 boys’ hostels outside the campus and 1 girl’s hostel inside the campus.
Scholarship Facility
There are provisions for financial aids to students in the form of Central Government sponsored merit scholarships, State Government Sponsored APST student’s stipend and book grants and other grants from NGOs.
