National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) is a premier organisation involved in Research and Development under Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India. NIH was established in 1978 with the main objective of undertaking, aiding, promoting and coordinating systematic and scientific work in all aspects of hydrology. It was established as an autonomous society and is fully funded and aided by the Ministry of Water Resources, Government of India. The Institute was declared as an S&T organisation in 1987. NIH has acquired the status of the premier Research Institution of India.
