The NCAT was permitted vide Government Order No. 200 of Agriculture (AU) Department of Government of Tamil Nadu Dated 28th September 2015. The NCAT was permitted to admit 60 students for the B.Sc.(Ag) degree program for the academic year 2015-2016. Accordingly the NCAT has admitted 56 students for the first time to the First Year B.Sc.(Ag) Degree program following the 65 per cent of seats under Counseling Quota and 35 per cent of the seats under Management Quota. At present, 38 girl students and 18 boys are studying the B.Sc.(Ag) Degree program.
Laboratories : The laboratory needs of the course work are met with 8 laboratories available exclusively for the purpose.
The labs are equipped with Laminar Flow chamber, tissue culture rack, flame photo meter, pH meter, EC meter, Lux meter, dissection microscopes, compound microscopes, insect collection boxes, autoclave, oven, shaker, sox let apparatus, steam sterilizer, heating mantle, display charts, modules for each teaching. Glass wares viz., petri dishes, measuring cylinders, micro scope slides, cavity slides, Bunsen burners, sprit lamps, conical flasks, cylindrical flasks are also available.
Languages & Computer Labs: Computers exclusively equipped to deal with language learning have been established. The computer lab also acts as language lab. Exclusive language lab software provided by BBC is being used to teach students. The lab has a dedicated server that helps in on line examination for mid semester. Lately TNAU has offered online smart pad exam mode for paper less, eco-friendly, tamper proof method. Under this students will be provided with touch pad and electronic stylus for writing on touch pad.
Hostel Facility
NCAT, Theni offers hostel facilities separately for men and women.
Scholarship Facility
Scholarships : Candidates admitted to NCAT, Kamuthy under Government Quota (General Counselling) are eligible to the following scholarships a) SC/ST scholarship b) First Graduate Scholarship c) Backward Class Scholarship d. Ulavar Pathukappu Nala Thittam – subject to Government Norms
Other scholarships: Railway Board Scholarship, BSNL employee Welfare Scholarship, Vijaya Lakshmi Educational Trust, Agaram Foundation, Government Teacher’s Scholarship, NSF Foundation, Social Welfare Board.
Philanthropy: NCAT, Kamuthy also helps those students in dire need of finance by contacting Alumni, former TNAU staff and other philanthropists in acquiring necessary funds.
Bank Loan: Students requesting bank loan will be provided with required documents.
Upon admission, within a month, the Year Co-ordinator will announce the scholarship and request applications for the same. Efforts are taken to secure the scholarships from local government authority at the earliest.
