Mathematics is the abstract study of topics encompassing structure, space, change and other properties. Mathematics is used throughout the world as an essential tool in many fields including natural science, engineering, medicine and the . Department of Mathematics SGGSWU Fatehgarh Sahib from its very inception in 2011 has aimed to be a centre of excellence in mathematics and computing and been vigorously engaged in both research and teaching. The department has a good number of distinguished mathematicians visiting it every year. The department also supports the engineering departments by offering core and advanced courses in mathematics at undergraduate B. Tech. and postgraduate M. Tech. level in various semesters. The Department organises various events like Quiz Competitions and presentations from time to time to enhance the skill of critical thinking among the students.
