NMSM College , a premier institution in Wayanad under the direct control of Government of Kerala was established in the year 1981.Started in a rented building at Kalpetta. In the year 1983, the College moved to its permanent campus enclosed by a green and cool landscape at Vellaramkunnu 4 Kilometers away from Kalpetta through Mysore-Calicut Highway(NH 212). The entire landscape spanning around 11 hectares has been given by Neelikkandy Family in Memory of Neelikkandy Moidheen Sahib, a man with higher social commitment. The College is committed to serving the economically and socially marginalised sections of society and provides university education in a calm atmosphere for students, especially those belonging to Wayanad and nearby districts Admission is open to all, irrespective of caste and creed, and their rights of conscience are respected. In keeping with its mission, the College promotes inclusive practices in the implementation of its academic programmes, taking into account learning differences and the special needs of the students In seeking to mould character, who will be self-reliant and work towards social transformation, the College has established an educational road map that provides a framework for quality education and stimuli for lifetime learning.
Central Library:The central library has a total collection of 23,165 books, 48 journals, 26 periodicals as of present. It also maintains a Learning Resource Centre with internet facilities in all the computer systems.
Computer Lab:Computer Lab Packed with 26 high end Personal Computers. Sufficient to do academic activities as per the University Syllabus for the Graduate program in Computer Science.
Physics Lab:
The General Physicslaboratory is adequate for the physics and digital electronics experiments to be done as per therequirementsof thesyllabus.
EDUSAT Studio:A Fully furnished mini auditorium capable of accommodating thirty. Facilitates audio visual learning straight from experts over the air.
Media Production Lab:Lab equipped with facilities to help the students to do Visual Production, Radio Production and Newspaper production.
Canteen:Fully furnished canteen building servinghygienicand delicious food at marginal cost. Operated by College Staff council.
Transportation: KSRTC is operating Two buses from Kalpetta to our college in the Morning and Evening.Students bearing a valid pass can travel free of cost.
