SSO is an educational venture promoted by Giridhar Eye Institute. SSO is a unit of Kerala Vision Research Foundation and is affiliated to the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) for conducting B.Sc. Optometry Course of four year duration. SSO commenced academic activities in October 2015.The college has excellent educational facilities, well trained and experienced faculty, well-equipped laboratory, clinical and optical exposures and vast collection of books in the field of optometry, ophthalmology and vision science. With latest development in eye care, excellent team of doctors & optometrists students in SSO shall attain both practical and theoretical knowledge. The standard education pattern and training help the students to achieve quality education in SSO.
Laboratory:A sophisticated mechanical and optical lab with advanced facilities to learn and practice the craft of lens making is available for the students. The school also has a refraction room with an extensive range of eye-testing equipment and learning tools. A state-ofthe- art physics lab with a wide host of instruments for experiments related to optics and light is also at students disposal.
Library:The contemporary library at Susruta seamlessly combines the conventional and digital platforms of reading. A vast collection of books from the field of optometry and ophthalmology, including various journals and rare publications are accessible here.
Clinical Exposure at Giridhar eye Institute:
With over 500 patients attended per day at outpatient departments, the students are enriched with excellent exposure to the latest advances in surgery,treating methodology,and diagonostic equipment. They also benefit tremondously from patient interaction.
Co-Curricular Activities
In addition to academic lessons, various industrial and clinical talks, seminars,meetings and discussions are conducted at conference halls and smart classrooms regularly to keep students updated with present-day developments and innovations in eye care sector.
