Sonai Meenal Arts and Science College was founded in 1998, as an affiliated college to the Madurai Kamaraj University (G.O.M.S. 282 Dt., 26.06.1998)and then affiliated to Alagappa University, Karaikudi,(G.O.M.S 282 Dt., 16.10.2002 & 12323/K2/2003 Dt 02.06.2003) when it was formed in 2002. The college is administered by the Sonai Meenal Educational Trust. It is established in a sprawling land area of 31 acres.. Thiru. So.Bala Krishnan, of revered memory, are the founding fathers of this institution.
