NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, an institution of national eminence in the field of legal education and research, is a residential University established in 1998 under the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University Act (Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998) of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature. The University provides an opportunity to explore limitless options in legal profession and is setting new standards in legal education. The University has as its primary mission to create a generation of able, competent and humane lawyers who will not only enter the Bar and Bench but will also be equipped to address effectively the imperatives of the new millennium and to engage in community services. The University Grants Commission has recognised NALSAR under sections 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC Act, 1956.
NALSAR has the best of infrastructure, committed faculty, highly talented students, state of the art facilities and partnerships with world-renowned institutions. The main buildings on the Campus include Administrative Block, Academic Block, Library, Computer Centre, M.K. Nambyar SAARC LAW Centre (which houses a State-of-the-Art Moot Court Hall and a Lecture Hall with Video Conferencing facilities). Two buildings house the N.C. Banerjee Centre for Intellectual Property Law Studies and Dr. S.P. Chatterjee Centre for Environmental Law Studies.
The NALSAR Law Library is one of the largest law libraries in the country, not just in terms of the number of titles, but in terms of capacity as well. The library is a host to more than 30,000 titles covering various fields of study ranging from law to social sciences. Subscriptions have been made to more than 100 newspapers, magazines and journals. The reference section of the library stocks complete volume sets of the most prestigious and well known journals and compilations in the field of law.
Hostel Facility
There are four blocks of hostels for boys and another four blocks of hostels for girls with a large common dining hall, three Blocks of faculty quarters comprising 12 Units, three Blocks of quarters for support staff comprising 12 Units, Vice-Chancellor's residence and a Guest House.
Scholarship Facility
Scholarship shall be awarded to the students based on the criteria of merit-cummeans.
