Sri Sarada College for Women, Salem was started in the year 1961 as an affiliated college of the University of Madras by Mrs. Seethalakshmi Ramaswamy under the benign grace and presidentship of Srimath Swami Chidbhavananda of Sri Ramakrishna Tapovanam, Tirupparaithurai. Since 1-1-1998, Sri Sarada College is affiliated to the Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu, India. It is a Government aided college and recognized for receiving grants from University Grants Commission (U.G.C.) under sections 2f / 12 B. It receives not only annual grants for the functioning of autonomy but also special plan grants.
Library : At present,the library houses about 78, 839 books, 30 journals and 49 periodicals with an extensive reference material for the benefit of students to appear for competitive examinations.
Laboratories:The Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Home Science and Computer Science have spacious laboratories with upto date equipments / instruments necessary to conduct under-graduate and post-graduate practicals.
Hostel Facility
The college provides accommodation for students coming from places outside city limits and a good vegetarian mess is provided for them.
