The Government Law College, Tirunelveli was established to meet the requirements of the people of the Southern most part of Tamilnadu in 1996, it is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University. To begin with, the college prepared students only for the Three Year Law course (REGULAR)
The college has started functioning from October , 2000; in its own new building in an area measuring 15 Acres adjacent to the District Courts Buildings, Thirunelveli. The new buildings is completed in the year 2000 with spacious class rooms, Computer Room, Principal Room, Library, Auditorium, Office Room and Girls Rest Room in the Ground Floor. There are six class rooms on the first floor. The new building is surrounded with compound wall. The building is having sufficient accommodation for the 3 year and 5 year law course students.
Hostel Facility
There is a separate hostel for women which is in the college campus. This accommodate more than 100 girl students coming from different parts of the state.
