Vivekananda Degree College was established in 1982 and is affiliated to Bangalore University and NAAC accredited. Vivekananda Degree College was adjudged as ‘the 4th Best College in Bangalore’, by the survey conducted by the National English Weekly ‘India Today’ in 2003. The campus is located in the heart of the city and is about 5 km from Bangalore City Railway Station and Bus Stand. The college is very near to soap factory Metro station. The college runs several degree courses in Electronics, Computer Science, Arts, Science and Commerce. The results in all courses are good.The faculty members are well qualified, experienced and motivated. Eighteen faculty members hold Ph.D. degree and Twelve faculty members hold M.Phil degree and do research for Ph.D. degree. Prof. M. Venkateshappa is the Principal of Vivekananda Degree College.
Computer center: Computer Lab, Business Lab. and Language Lab. are provided computers with internet facility contribute for effective teaching. Teachers /mentors assist the students in making use of such facilities and students are advised to refer e-books, e-journals, and prepare online projects.
Library
Laboratories: The college houses six laboratories, one each for Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Biotechnology and Zoology. The laboratories are upgraded with advanced Laboratory equipment’s and have enough space to conduct practical classes effectively.
Seminar Hall: The institute has a seminar hall equipped with advanced audio-visuals multimedia facilities and Wi-Fi facility to organize seminars, lectures and other academic activities.
Auditorium: The college has two auditoriums, one with audio-visuals multi-media facilities and public address system with a seating capacity of 500. This is used for academic purposes, conducting seminars, counseling for admissions, etc.
Transport: The College is well connected to the main city through public transport system and is very close to the Metro Rail Station as well.
Health Center: A qualified Doctor is appointed by the college, who is available for two days in a week during the college hours at the Health Centre to provide the necessary first aid and treatment.
