A school was started on the 15th of June 1876, By Gurikar Marimallappa at his own residence in Mysore City. As the school grew from strength to strength, there arose the necessity for a bigger building. Then the present building, housing Marimallappa P.U. College, High School and Higher Primary School, was constructed. When there was a shortage of money for completing it, Smt. Mallamma, wife of Sri Gurikar Marimallappa, sold all her jewellery so that the construction of the building continued. Thus, this imposing building was completed, with the supreme sacrifice and service of the noble lady. Such yeomen service prompted the Marimallappa Educational Trust to start a Women's First Grade College in the name of Smt. Mallamma. In this way, Mallamma Marimallappa Women's Arts and Commerce College came into existence in 1982. . Today, it is a leading college in Mysore City whose destiny has been shaped by experienced and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff.
Library: The college has a spacious Library with a seating capacity of more than 100. It has an excellent collection of 21070 books and a number of journals and magazines for both students and teachers on all subjects being taught in the college. There are 7364 UGC books apart from 448 books meant for poor students; Jindal Trust has donated 180 books.
Canteen: College canteen offers a variety of dishes at reasonable prices, in a well maintained hygienic space providing nutritious food along with snacks and beverages, under the strict supervision of the Management.
Parking Lot: Ample space has been provided for vehicle parking, close to the main entrance. There are separate enclosures for two wheeler and four wheeler parking for faculty and students.
Scholarship Facility
GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS:
Several scholarships are awarded by the State & Central Governments to meritorious students and for those who are eligible for them under different criteria. In addition to these, the college has also instituted Poor Student's Fund for the benefit of the economically deprived. Information pertaining to these will be given in the College Office.
Other Endowments:
The College Management has instituted Endowment Cash Prizes for deserving meritorious students. Teachers of every Department give cash prizes to subject toppers as incentive. Cash awards are also instituted in the name of the donors.
