SHAMS-UL-ULOOM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION at Markapur was established by Islamic Educational and Cultural Society during the early part of 2003 for the year 2002-2003 after getting recognition by the Southern Regional Committee of National Council for Teacher Education vide FAP/New/BEd197/SRO/NCTE/2002-03/0148 dated 28-02-2003 and also with the NOC from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. The college is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. The college has twin objectives of developing the educationally and economically backward area of Markapur and also to serve the Muslim religious minority group to take care of their educational, social and economic needs. Of course as an educational institution the college may immediately serve the cause of education only.
Seperate laboratoties for Computer, ET, Psychology, Physical Science, Biological Science and Work Experience are provided by the college
An open air theatre that can accommodate 500 persons is available for conducting cultural activities.
