The Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University is considered as the largest in India with an infrastructure of 10 Colleges (5 in Agriculture, 2 in Agricultural Engineering, 2 in Food Science & Technology and 1 in Home Science) 46 Research stations distributed in 9 Agro-climatic zones of the State, 54 Agricultural Polytechnics (26 University Polytechnics (21 in Diploma in Agriculture, 2 in Diploma in Seed Technology and 3 in Diploma in Agricultural Engineering) and 28 private polytechnics (17 in Diploma in Agriculture, 3 in Diploma in Seed Technology and 8 in Diploma in Agricultural Engineering)) , 22 District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centres (DAATTCs), 16 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Farmer Science Centre), one Agricultural Technology and Information Centre (ATIC) and Electronic Media Wing apart from one Extension Education Institute (EEI) and Agricultural Information and Communication Centre ( AI&CC). Thus, it is an unique multi campus University in the country having its units functioning all over the State with the two Faculties of Agriculture and Home Science showing splendid performance of exemplary nature.
The University had the support of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research for establishing a strong base. Therefore, the infrastructure, which was transferred to the University at the time of its establishment, has been further strengthened with addition of classrooms, farmlands, laboratories, computer facilities, workshops and hostels. The irrigation facilities in the teaching campuses have been improved through the installation of lift and micro irrigation facilities and sinking of bore wells. Staff quarters have also been built in most of the colleges.
