Smt. A Shyamala Devi Degree College for Women works under the aegis of Andhra Yuvatha Mandali – a society started in the year 1935 on a very auspicious day, “Vijaya Dasami”. A strong conviction of society at that time and to this day is emancipation of women, socially and economically through education. Towards this objective Mandali diversified its activities. A Sishu Vihar was started in the year 1955, later a working women’s hostel in the year 1958, a full fledged High School in the year 1968-69, Junior College in the year 1995 and Degree college in the year 1998, MBA and Pharmacy courses in the year 2009.
Auditorium: The College is among the very few in the city to have an independent auditorium with a seating capacity 500 persons. The Auditorium has a separate Seminar hall attached to it. All important functions and academic activities of the College are held in the Auditorium and its seminar hall.
Audio Visual Room: In keeping with the modern trends in the field of education our college provides a well equipped, State of the art Audio Visual Room with a 100 seating capacity. The room is well equipped with an over head- cum - slight projector, Interactive Board, LCD, Document camera and is frequently used for Audio Visual presentation of subject matter and other purposes.
Hostel Facility
Library: The Library has a spacious hall for Reading and Reference.It is well equipped with reference and Text books.The college contributes to number of Periodicals,Journals and Newspapers.Students can have access to all types of books(Academic,Competitive examinations and General knowledge)
Computer lab: Computer lab caters to the needs of both B.com and B.Sc students. Lab is made available to the students from morning 9 ‘0’ clock to 4.00 PM. Student computer ratio is maintained as 1:1. Lab provides various facilities to the students, with 70 systems and configurations that support their needs.Internet facility is available. Lab is also provided with a data projector. Students can work in the lab not only during the schedule lab hours but also beyond 2.30 PM, so as to improve upon their computer skills practically.
