Former MLA of Katol, Honorable Shri. Sunilbabu Shamraoji Shinde established Shinde Education Society in 1990, an endeavour to provide higher education for girls. In 1992 Rani Laxmibai Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Sawargaon was established to promote Under Graduate Degree in rural area. Rani Laxmibai Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Sawargaon is affiliated with Rashtrasanth Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University Nagpur since its establishment.
