The Nabakrushna Choudhury Centre for Development Studies (NCDS), established in March 1987, is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Since its inception, it has been jointly funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha. Focusing on socio-economic research, this institute is the only one of its kind that serves as a policy think tank in the state of Odisha.
library : The Centre’s library has one of the finest collections of books and journals in social sciences. Efforts are being made to make the library one of the best reference libraries for social science research in eastern India. The library at present has a collection of around 15000 books and back volumes of research journals. Including regular subscription of 20 important Overseas journals the Centre regularly subscribes around 90 journals and periodicals dealing with social, economic, political issues and the like.
