Situated close to the shore of Chilka Lake and surrounded by green mountain peaks, Khallikote offers a grand view of natural beauty.The first inspection commission for the establishment of a college visited Khallikote on 5th April‘ 64 and recommended for the same. Initially, the college started functioning in the Dewan Bunglow from 1st July‘ 64 and later, it was shifted to the present building at Nirmaljhar in1968.The College was named after the benevolent Rajabahadur Rama Chandra Mardharaj Deo, for whose vision and munificence this college owes its existence. The twelve acres of land, a panoramic spot at Nirmaljhar on which the college complex stands was donated by Late Rajmata Chandrapriya Devi. In the beginning, the College was affiliated to the Utkal University in Pre-University Science. After the establishment of Berhampur University in 1966 the college was reaffiliated to it.
