The D.A.V College was founded in the year 1968, after a  consistent struggle and efforts of the local intelligentsia and enthusiasts. The first step to set up a college at Titilagarh was taken in 1968  with the support   and  patronage from all quarters. Dr. A.N Khosla, the-then Governor of Odisha,  readily   acceded   to  the proposal of opening of a college at this  town with a view to providing facility of  higher  education  to  the youth of the region. It was also  decided  to bring this college under the management of the D.A.V.   Trust  for better  governance. In accordance    with   this  preconceived   plan, the campus of the  Division  office of the B.N.R was selected as the site of the proposed college and about 38 acres    of land  encompassing bungalows, quarters and  building used  by  the  BNR  were acquired for this purpose.
