Government Kavyopadhyaya Hiralal College of Abhanpur, established in the year 1989, was previously known as Government College Abhanpur. It was renamed after Kavyopadhyaya Hiralal, the first writer of the Chhattisgarhi grammar, by the Higher Education Department of the Chhattisgarh Government. It is registered under section 2(f) and 12-B of the UGC Act. It is an upcoming academic institution of Raipur district endowed with several inherent features to groom the students. Situated about 30 km away from Raipur city, the college campus is spread over 16 acres of land in Abhanpur Township on Abhanpur- Rajim road. Affiliated to Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, the college offers courses of science, commerce and social science at under graduate level and master degree in Hindi literature and Political Science.
