In consonance with the general guidelines of UNESCO (1962) regarding establishment of specialized institutes, National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT) was created in 1966 under the UNDP program to cater to the need of a large number of technicians. The particular emphasis was on Foundry and Forge technology to meet the demand of trained manpower in the primary metal manufacturing sectors like automobile, heavy engineering, machine and component manufacturing etc. Two carefully designed advanced diploma courses, namely Foundry and Forge technology were offered.

1 .	Advance Diploma in Forge Technology
	Eligibility The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination (Diploma in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Production Engineering/B. Sc. degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Relaxed criteria of 45% marks will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

2 .	Advance Diploma in Foundry Technology
	Eligibility The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination (Diploma in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Production Engineering/B. Sc. degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Relaxed criteria of 45% marks will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

3 .	B.Tech. Manufacturing Engineering
	Eligibility Admission to all disciplines will be made in the Autumn Semester of each session at the First Year level through JEE (Main), the counseling for which is done by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). There shall be no opportunity of a change of branch mid-way during the programme.

4 .	B.Tech. Metallurgy and Materials Engineering
	Eligibility The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination (Diploma in Metallurgical/Mechanical/Production Engineering/B. Sc. degree with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Relaxed criteria of 45% marks will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

5 .	M.Tech. Environmental Engineering
	Eligibility (a) B. E. / B. Tech. or equivalent in Civil/ Chemical/Environmental/ Metallurgical/Metallurgy & Materials / Mining Engineering (b) M. Sc. in Chemistry/ Environmental Science.
	Duration 2 Years

6 .	M.Tech. Foundry Technology
	Eligibility B. E. / B. Tech. or equivalent in Automobile/ Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Production/ Metallurgical/ Metallurgy and Materials Engineering.
	Duration 2 Years

7 .	M.Tech. Production and Industrial Engineering
	Eligibility B. E. / B. Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical/ Manufacturing/ Metallurgical/ Metallurgy and Materials/ Production/ Industrial Engineering.
