The long -Cherished dream of the inhabitants of Jakaichuck and West Konwarpur Mouzas came true of the establishment of Dikhowmukh College in July, 1982. The Higher Secondary Section was opened first and then gradually extended up to Degree level in 1984. The college was affiliated to the Dibrugarh University in 1984. It has completed its silver jubilee in the year 2007 and assessed by NAAC in 2005. The college has seven (7) department -English, Assamese, Economics, Political Science, Education, History and Sociology and all the department offer major courses at the degree level. The college has also introduced a number of Vocational courses.
Library : The college library is the store house of more than 20.000 books on various subjects.It also subscribes a number of newspapers,reputed magazines and journals. In the newly built fully furnished and specious library building,a congenial environment is maintained to give the students a healthy and fruitful experience. The library also has a rich Reference section which houses Encyclopedias,Dictionaries,Bound journal and other boos of importance.The library is fully computerized.
In addition to the central library every department maintains its own department library.
