Jagiroad College (the erstwhile Kapili Anchalik Mahavidyalaya) was established on 8th August, 1979. The College is located at Jagiroad, a gradually developing semi-urban conglomeration of Morigaon district of Assam, at a distance of barely one hundred meters from the National Highway 37. The serene campus, spread over a spacious area of twenty-five bighas of land, is nestled by the picturesque Sonaikuchi Hill. Culturally it lies very close to Na-Khola—the abode of the Prince Regent of the ancient Kingdom of the Tiwas –one of the tribes of the state endowed with its distinctive indigenous life-world. Jagiroad College was established by a group of foresighted and committed social-workers of the region.
The College houses three beautiful classroom blocks for students of Arts stream.The Kiling Block houses the distinctively updated laboratories, class-rooms and departmental common rooms of teachers of the Science Stream. The Mayang Block houses the IGNOU study Centre and classrooms for Major subjects. The Commerce Block facilitates the Class rooms for the Teachers and Students of the Commerce Stream. A multi-storied building has also come up, commonly known as the Maths-Geo Building (proposed as Sonaikuchi Block), to cater to the growing needs of the Mathematics, Geography and Acting departments. This Block also facilitates the Laboratory for the Pulp and Paper Technology programme. Construction and renovation works are also going on to facilitate class rooms for Retail Management and Acting courses under B. Voc. scheme.
Boys’ Common Room, Gym and NCC offices are also there in the College.
