Khalsa College for Women is one of the leading women institutions of Punjab situated on National Highway (G.T.Road), Amritsar. Established in 1968, it is a premier institute, a gateway to academic and professional excellence having the proud privilege of working under the auspices of Khalsa College Governing Council, Amritsar. In the 49th historic All India Sikh Educational Conference, held at the premises of Khalsa College, Amritsar under the patronage of Chief Khalsa Dewan, it was proposed to establish a separate institution for women. Finally as per its resolution no. 262 dated June 10, 1967 and resolution no. 279 dated September 17, 1967 of the Governing Council of Khalsa College, it was decided to start Khalsa College for Women in the premises of Khalsa College, Amritsar.College has very safe and happening environment. It has placement and counseling cell, elaborate arrangement for games, special economic and academic packages, well developed software portfolios, clean and hygiene campus with easy accessibility.The campus has HI-TECH Computer Labs, fully furnished Music Rooms, Home Science & Textile Designing Lab, Science Labs.
Library: A library is considered to be a soul of an educational institution. The College Library, the knowledge house of the institution, is well stacked with 25,000 books including a variety of Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Rare Books and Text Books. All major Journals, Periodicals, Magazines and News Papers are the treasure of the library. Due to the explosion of knowledge in modern times, more and more books are being added to the previous stock.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: The college offers hostel accommodation with all the modern amenities and a peaceful atmosphere conducive for studies. The number of seats are limited; so candidates desirous of residing in the hostel must get their seats reserved immediately at the time of admission to the college. A separate form for admission to the hostel is supplied with the prospectus, to be filled in by the boarders.College Hostel is studded with all basic amenities and has accommodation facility to house 550 girls. The neat & clean, airy and fully secure hostel campus is the first choice of the parents from far off towns, villages and farmhouses. The self-administration of hostel mess by the students under the able guidance of warden is a unique feature. Lush green Lawns, Play grounds, Library, Indoor recreational hall, Gymnasium, Gurudwara Sahib, Juice bar and Canteen-cum-tuck shop are part of the hostel living. The post graduate students of Computer Science are provided with computers in their cubicles.
