Recognizing the expansion of the education in modern world and the growing need of students from Miraj city and nearby rural locality, a man of duty and studious MLA Prof. Sharad Patil took initiative in the establishment of Miraj Mahavidyalaya, Miraj ( Arts , Science & Commerce) in the year 1993. To inculcate intelligent, moral , civilized and healthy citizen and in turn (through which ) contributing in the formation of New India is the objective of this college.The college is being entered successfully in the 19th year from June 2011, Within a short span of time, the college has established its own (luxurious) building of 21 rooms at the centre of Miraj near Govt. milk Dairy.In Feb. 2004, the college is assessed by National Assessment and Accreditation council, Banglore (NAAC) and accredited highest Rank B in Miraj which has added glory in its reputation. To step further (while acquiring one more successful step) The college has received continuous affiliation by Shivaji University, Kolhapur in June 2005. Along with this, the college has also been credited for the inclusion of section 2(F) and 12(B) by University Grants commission on 20l March 2006. It resulted in the quality and standard of the college. The ultimate advantage of it is reflected in the acquisition of grants for various programmes by University Grants commission in the year 2006-07 and 2007-08 Among these grants, a Special grant of Rs 87000 lac is the most creditable for the construction of Ladies Hostel.
Library: The underlying force behind every successful student is an ocean of knowledge, usually found to be in a good and well stocked library. The college is always taking care and laborious efforts to enrich the library in its quantity and quality.Library is known as the mirror of the college where the image of the college is reflected in true sense since the first year of the college Library facilities were offered to the students as well as to the teaching and Non teaching staff.
Sports Gymkhana: Gymkhana Department is established in July 1993.
The Gymkhana Department has two international players and Hundred and Five National / Inter university players.Constantly our Basketball team is winner in Sangli Zonal Sports.A construction for Indoor sports Facility Center is in progress.A well equipped Gymnasium and Fitness Machine is available and also a Basketball Trimix court with glass board and dunking ring. The Director of Physical Education is working as a qualified Referee of Basketball Federation of India.
