The institute was formally inaugurated by Smt. Kumari Selja Honorable union minister for tourism / GOI on 7/12/09 in the presence of HCM Sikkim.Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure & Ecotourism (IHCAE), Chemchey is ideally located in the pristine mountains of the Central Himalaya on the lap of the world's third highest peak, the majestic Mt. Khangchendzonga. IHCAE is the first institute of its kind in India to have achieved the remarkable feat of proudly unfurling the Institute flag on the "On the TOP of World" Mount Everest not once, not twice but thrice. And all this within four years of its inception (i.e. 7th Nov 2009).
The campus is extremely well laid out with good infrastructure. It offers its trainees a wide range of activities such as Rock climbing, Mountaineering, White-water rafting, Skiing, Mountain Biking & Paragliding. Its 14 stages obstacle course is one the most challenging events for trainees designed to develop physical endurance and mental alertness.IHCAE campus has a well established training area enabling a superior training experience to all its trainees. It consists of a 14 stage obstacle, meditation hall, 8 guest rooms

Hostel for male and female trannies to accommodate 60 trannies is available in the Campus.
