Doaba College Jalandhar (Punjab) is a Multi-faculty Postgraduate Co-educational Pioneer Institution of North India. The visionary founding fathers viz Sh. Bindraban Sondhi, Rai Bahadur Badri Dass, Sh. Jagan Nath Mittal and Acharya Lajja Vati were the icons of Arya Samaj and spartan freedom fighters who laid the foundation of Doaba College in 1941, to promote the philosophy of Maharishi Swami Dayanand.The primary mission of these philanthropists was to impart value based education to the less privileged and economically weaker sections of the society and make them fine human beings. It was conceived as a part of the national movement for freedom with education through traditional courses as a potent means to arouse public opinion to fight against imperialism and safeguard rich cultural heritage of the country under the dynamic and visionary leadership of earlier Rai Bahadur Badri Dass, Seth Stya Paul, Sh. Virendra – Nationalist Freedom Fighter and now keeping pace with changing times there is emphasis on professional courses under stewardship of Sh. Chander Mohan, Chief – Editor, Daily Vir Pratap and the President of Arya Shiksha Mandal.
Library: A three storeyed whisper quiet library is equipped with open shelf system. The college has rich treasure of well-stocked library that has more than 73000 collections, 6000 e-journal through INFLIBNET list program , 3135000 e-books and the library provides 24 hour accessibility. Each floor is systematically arranged with books and has separate reading places for UG & PG students. The college library is totally equipped with computerized cataloguing , classification, circulation, transaction, provision of internet, multimedia, CD-based service, audio-video sections, resource material cell etc. In its peaceful and serene atmosphere, the students can widen their intellectual horizon by browsing rare books, journals, reference books etc.
Auditorium: The college has a state of art auditorium with green room and acoustic technology enabled equipment. The combined capacity of its hall and gallery is 700.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: The college constantly strives to replicate the facilities to boarders that are available to day scholars.There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The intake capacity of boys hostel is 80 students and of girls hostel is 96 students. The rooms are well ventilated with provision of coolers and attached washrooms in selected rooms. The newly constructed girls’ hostel has washing machines and treadmills and basic amenities.
