Ramgarhia College of Education, formerly known as Ramgarhia Training College is imparting teacher education to graduates for the degree of Bachelor of Education(B.Ed.) and to post graduates for the degree of Masters of Education(M.Ed.). This College was started on 24th Sept, 1956 with two units of Bachelor of Teaching (B.T.) class under the aegis of Ramgarhia Education Council Phagwara. This progressive body was founded by illustrious sons of Punjab, Late. S. Mohan Singh Hadiabadi (Founder President) and Late S. Mela Singh Bhogal (President) with the active cooperation of other members of Ramgarhia Community. It has traveled a long and glorious journey under the headship of Late S. Bharpur Singh Bhogal. Presently this body is steered by Mrs. Manpreet Kaur Bhopgal as its President cum Chairperson. Ramgarhia Education Institutions are contributing exemplary in the field of Education. From a humble start (in 1929) in the form of only a primary school, the management has now (under its control) the following prestigious educational institutions.
Library: A qualified librarian maintains the library. It is open to staff and students from 9:00 am to 4:00pm. It is also kept open during student teaching practice and examinations. Open access system is followed except for reference books, general books, subject books, encyclopedias, theses, reference books, journals, periodicals, newspapers (Hindi, Punjabi, English). The question papers and syllabus for various subjects are made available for reference. Students and staff of other colleges can use library with authority letter from head of their institution and/or Ph.D. supervisor. The library can accommodate 70 persons at a time.
Computer Laboratory: It is becoming increasingly clear that the real promise of technology in education lies in its potential to facilitate fundamental, qualitative changes in the nature of teaching and learning. Used meaningfully, technology can change the ways teachers teach and students learn. The computer is essential part ICT based Teaching – Learning Process. We at Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara use computers for Teaching, Testing, Evaluation and Research purposes.
Sports Facility: For the physical development of the students, the college has provided health and resource centre where the students can have recreation along with the fitness of body and mind through a number of indoor and outdoor games. The college has own Volleyball ground. The college share stadium called AKAL STADIUM with its sister institution, RIET, Phagwara. The College organizes Sports Day in which a number of activities are organized.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: The College has hostel facility for its students (Boys and Girls separately). The hostel has a provision of accommodating more than 100 students with all the facilities. The rooms are well ventilated and furnished with basic requirements. There is a provision of warden room, a common room with T.V and hostel mess, sufficient number of clean washrooms with facility of geysers. The hostel is equipped with solar system for water heating. The hostel has generator for power back-up that gives uninterrupted power supply to students which is necessary for their study, stay and comfort.
Placement Service Available: The Career Counseling and Placement Cell of Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara in collaboration with the Alpha Global Enterprises, Phagwara organized the campus placement in the college .The purpose of the campus placement was to provide job opportunities to the students. Around 90 B.Ed. & M.Ed.students participated in this placement drive. The Principals and teacher representatives from various schools of Jalandhar and Phagwara including Eklavya School, Jalandhar; New Sunflower Public High School; GDR School; SD Model Sr. Sec.School, Punjab Public Sr. Sec. School, Divine Public School, DAV Centenary Public School and Sahibzada Ajit Singh School, Phagwara interviewed the students as per the subject requirements of their schools. The students were assessed for their curricular and co- curricular achievements. Overall, the Campus Placement was a great success.
