Computer has applications in every aspect of our lives, most significantly in the communication, control systems, health care, education governance and finance. With every passing year, computer software evolves into a faster, more sophisticated, versatile and easy-to-use technology. Indian software industry is a huge sector with double digit growth rate and having a turnover of around US $88 billion in 2011, generating direct employment for over 2.5 million people with 6.4% contribution to India’s GDP. India's growing stature in the information age enabled it to form close ties with both the United States of America and the European Union. It is estimated that IT exports from India will touch around US $175 billion and the total revenue of the sector will be US $225 billion in 2020. Owing to the phenomenal and multidimensional growth of the industry coupled with its lucrative nature, IT has successfully pervaded into all streams of engineering. According to official sources, over 60 to 70% of students across engineering institutions get employed into IT or IT related companies as against core engineering companies. With the increasing applications of IT in all sectors of employment, the demand of IT graduates shall keep on increasing.
